What is your favorite aspect of the kitchen design?

My favorite aspect of the kitchen design is how the seamless approach flows through as soon as you walk into the space. With this remodel project, we essentially transformed a decently functional kitchen into a kitchen that presents itself as a statement and centerpiece of the unit. Through the blend of panel-ready integration with Fulgor Appliances, the cooktop, oven, and drawer microwave approach transformed an old range and microwave hood fan into a re-optimized setting that maximizes counter and cabinet space while increasing functionality and performance.

Which appliances and/or design details do you consider ‘must-haves’ in a kitchen?

I believe that the must-haves of a kitchen change with every space and the demands of the overall design. But, the general approach is to start with the fundamentals. Initial questions include: what needs to be moved, changed, or re-configured? From there, we decide on how each piece contributes to the end goal. For example, I typically prefer panel-ready selections with condos as it broadens the overall size perception of a smaller space. In a larger kitchen or custom home, stainless steel appliances become a part of the bold design and premium statement.

The Fulgor cooktop in this project has a seamless glass finish with futuristic touch controls. The peacock sliding bar brings both fast boil with automatic power reduction for precision control from a functionality standpoint. In addition, this cooktop design is straightforward to use and clean and features a premium silver trim that wraps around as it meets the stone countertop.

What is your best advice for achieving a functional and stylish space?

The best advice I have for designing a space is to save an inspiration that you come across. As someone who has a passion for interior design and technology, there are constantly trends and great concepts that follow a similar theme but are sometimes very different. The challenge comes when multiple great ideas are mutually exclusive, trying to bring them all together, ensuring they don’t overpower or collide. Having a general theme and identifying a list of “must-haves” with appliances makes it easier to develop a base and begin the search for elements to include based on size, first and foremost, color, and feature set. Thankfully, Fulgor Milano presents a diverse lineup of appliances of different sizes, colors, and panel options, paired with the heritage and technological innovation in the industry that elevated my most recent project.
